Weedful Things

Weedful Things was a website that Braxton had back in the day. You ever hear of Geocities? Like 1998.  You ever hear of the Wayback Machine? It's proof that big brother IS watching you. Sadly, as of now that's the only way to see the site, I haven't been able to find all the images quite yet to improve it and rehost it here. But you can use the Wayback Machine to view the site over the course of time. It's pretty cool.
Also cool is Weedful Things, Braxton's homage to marijuana. He blogged long before blogging was a word. Take a trip down memory lane with the Wayback Machine version of Weedful Things.

And be sure to check out what has to be one of Braxton's earliest public rant-lists. /Wonder.html.

His Writing - part one

The day has finally come that I've added a bunch of Braxton's writing to the web site. I've added the date the file or post was last edited and you can view by date as well as by the alphabetical list. I am planning to just upload an obscene amount of stuff and hope to use this News Page to point out specifically interesting content.

The first of such content is a poem called Bare. It features the following verse, which I feel has a great rhythm to it:

Watching the sun as she slowly sets
knowing that time she never forgets
Up high the angels place their bets
a penny for your thoughts
a nickel for regrets
a thousand dimes of remittance
Couldn’t pay off my debts

Another interesting piece is a poem that I think expresses something everyone has felt at one point or another in their lives. It's a short one called Friend Forgotten.

A poem that I laughed out loud at is one he calls Katie. Many of the clippings he saved make me wonder if it's something he copied from a writer he's a fan of since he collected lots of quotes from his favorite authors. There was no question with Katie. This poem is one that exemplifies Braxton's unique style, for sure.

Images

I've got tons of images online, finally. As of right now, they're split up into just two categories: Photos of Braxton, and Random Images. The random images are just images found on his machine. They may be his creation or may not. They're things he found amusing at the least, and give insight to his immense sense of humor.

There will tend to be some nudity and drug use in the images on Braxto.com. View at your own discretion.

Progress...

Progress has been made! Most of the backbone of the site is now complete. The physical structure is complete, and the layout is simple but effective. Much of the graphics are Braxton's own and new additions are meant to follow suit with their simplicity and understatedness. This site is his design.

Now comes the daunting task of trying to categorize seemingly random photoshopped images and animated gifs. For the most part, I plan to upload basically everything and get it out there for everyone. The organizing can come later, right?

Braxton was rather prolific. And unique. You'll certain get a picture of that just looking at his You're The Man Now Dog (YTMND) submissions. From exposing the very personal to commenting on the fate of mankind, his art expressed what he wanted it to quite clearly. And quite humorously.

His YouTube videos are going to be updated a bit in the upcoming weeks as I am able to re-upload vids that have been removed for TOS violations or other reasons. I'd love to compile videos any of you may have of Braxton as well. Please email updates@ braxto.com if you may have footage. Thank you.

That's that. Next to come will be updates with links to various content within the website.

Welcome to Braxto.com

Hello World! Welcome to Braxto.com.

This is the first of many updates to come to Braxto.com. We will be constantly adding photos, music, artwork and more from the mind of Braxton Charles Shiplett. Our dear friend passed away on January 24, 2011 at his home in Willoughby, Ohio.  His creativity and unique sense of humor combined together to make works of art that are at once beautiful and disturbing, playful and sincere. His mastery of the English language allowed not only gorgeous prose and flowing poetry, but also an insight into his trying life with an astonishingly honest perspective. We will attempt to capture, classify, organize and distribute basically anything that Braxton created throughout his life. Be sure to visit often.

This blog will serve not only the purpose of announcing new additions to Braxto.com, but also posting other links to sites with relevant stories that would have been of interest to Braxto, humorous rants, controversial topics, and blistering pure fucking unadulterated hatred of the stupidity, selfishness, and overall moronic worthlessness that tends to ooze from the pores of the misinformed and disillusioned populace of this silly little rock we call home.

Stay tuned.
